Kai’s World
(2018 Nursery Mural)
A Personal Journey into Storytelling
The Story
This wasn't just a project; it was a race against time and a labor of deep connection. I executed this full-room mural while four months pregnant with Kai, balancing on ladders to ensure every bird and tree was perfectly placed before his arrival. There is a specific kind of energy you put into a wall when you know the person you’re painting it for is listening from the inside.
The Vision
I wanted to bring the calmness of nature indoors. The mural features a serene forest landscape, complete with towering trees, watchful owls, and graceful deer. It’s a space designed for quiet moments, bedtime stories, and the first dreams of a child.
The Process
This was a labor of love, hand-painted to bring character and warmth to every corner of the room. From the delicate silhouette of the birds to the playful details like the birdhouse and the baby deer, every element was placed to build a sense of belonging from day one.
The Legacy
While my professional work has evolved into technical abstraction, this mural remains a reminder that at its heart, all art is about connection and the spaces we call home.
